Can I Benefit from Personal Coaching?
Most of us, at some point in our lives, get into a routine and just sail along, letting life run us without too much thought, until something intervenes. When we’re suddenly pushed out of our comfort zones, we tend to fall back on that very human desire to retain old habits and perspectives, because they worked before. But successful leadership requires that you bring more of yourself than ever before. When you let go of old ways and allow all your special qualities to shine through, you will see that it’s like moving from living in black and white into living in full color. In our society, the emphasis is really on doing; it’s how success is measured. But special is not what you do. Special is who you are. Embrace your gifts and share them. The people you lead will thank you.
Personal coaching puts YOU in charge. You will actively make choices that take you from where you are now to where you want to be. Personal coaching is an investment in yourself that provides space for exploration, and someone to help you see what’s truly important to you. Once you are operating from a place of clarity, courageous action plans spring from that authentic place. Coaching can provide structure and accountability for you to move forward with your plan. Coaching can help you learn how to break down seemingly insurmountable tasks into easily digestible parts. As you experience personal coaching, you will come to know yourself better. Your trust in yourself will grow as you flex your courage muscle in support of your goals and succeed at things outside your comfort zone.
Who I Work with as a Personal Coach
Have you recently been put into a new position at work or given greater responsibility? Have you decided to take a leadership position in an organization you feel passionately about? Maybe there was an empty leadership role and all eyes turned to you to take it. Are you often called to leadership roles by others, but in your mind you think, “Me? No, I’m not really a leader.”?
I have been there. I work with people who have been thrust into leadership positions, and I’m committed to helping people find the ease and freedom that comes from leading from your core values and strengths.

How Personal Coaching Works
We’ll start with a sample session, so you can get an idea of what coaching is like and see if we think we are a good fit to work together.
Once we decide to work together, our first session is a longer one, when I get to know you a bit more. You’ll decide what your goals for coaching are, and we’ll discuss how we will work together. From there, we’ll schedule three 45-minute sessions a month, when we coach on a topic of your choice. Typically you’ll have a bit of “homework” between sessions. For example, I might ask you to closely observe a particular aspect of your life and see what you notice or to complete a specific action item. We’ll discuss the homework the next time we meet and see where it leads. I will also make sure we understand how any topics that come up relate to your larger goals. When you decide that your coaching is complete, we’ll devote our final two sessions to completing the process and setting you up for success on the next leg of your journey.
People coach for different lengths of time, depending on their goals. Typical coaching engagements are 3-6 months. Because it takes time to build the coaching relationship, I highly recommend a 6-month commitment to allow us to deeply explore your goals and time for you to see amazing results.
In the coach−client relationship, I don’t try to “fix” you…. My job is to help you find the answers that I know lie inside you. The relationship is a collaborative one. The more time and effort you invest in the coaching, the more you will get out of it.
I have clients all over the country. Most of my work is done by phone or via Skype, but if you are local, I offer the option to coach in person.
